YAM Flag Competition 2024-2025

The Theme for 2024-2025 is
"Healing Through Color"


To promote Youth Art Month, the primary requirement is to recreate the State Flag.

Using the national theme, "Healing Through Color," each state coordinates a flag design contest.

The winning design made into a flag for display in the Youth Art Month Museum at the

National Art Education Association (NAEA) annual National Convention.

   •  Each art educator can only submit 3 student artworks per    category level. (Ele, MS, HS) for this competition. 

   • Friday Nov. 8th from 9am-2pm at 

      Beaver Run Resort

      620 Village Rd, Breckenridge, CO 80424

  • Drop art and paperwork at the YAM table located near the registration tables at Beaver Run Resort.

  • Please print and complete this form and label, and submit it with your artwork at this year's conference. This form must be fully completed with all student and teacher information in order to be entered into the contest.

2pm on NOV. 8th!


JURY and DISPLAY INFO: 

• Judging will be held at pm on Friday, Nov. 8th at 3:00pm.

• Youth Art Month level winners will be announced at the Art Auction Friday, November 8th.

• Winner information will also be shared on Whova, email, and Instagram. 

• Artwork will be displayed from Friday Nov. 8th-Saturday Nov. 9th

• Please pick up artwork between 3-5pm on Saturday Nov. 9th 

ARTWORK LEFT BEHIND WILL BE RECYCLED OR GIVEN AWAY SUNDAY MORNING, NOV.10th!

Each art educator can only submit 3 student artworks per category level (Ele, MS, HS) for this competition.

Please print and complete this form and label, and submit it with your artwork at this year's conference. This form must be fully completed with all student and teacher information in order to be entered into the contest.

Please Read below for basic important dates and information.

  • Bring your student art to the CAEA Fall Conference at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colorado on Friday, November 8th between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.THIS IS THE ONLY DROP OFF WINDOW THIS YEAR! 

  • Drop art and paperwork at the YAM table located near the registration tables at Beaver Run Resort.

  • Student work will be judged and photographed on Friday November 8th at 3:00 pm.

  • Youth Art Month level winners will be announced at the Art Auction Friday, November 8th.

  • Artwork AND PRIZES will be taken home by the teacher directly from the Fall Conference; available Saturday November 9th.

  • Artwork left behind will be recycled or given away on Sunday Nov. 10th. 

  • Copies of ALL submitted student work will be in the state slide show. 

  • If a physical show is possible we will keep you informed!

  • The winning flag will be displayed at the National conference


Prizes:

Overall Winner student: $150

Over all Winner Teacher: $250 (plus a printed flag for the school)

Elem., Middle and High Winners: $100 each

Elem., Middle and High Winners Teacher: $200 each

Blick gift cards will be awarded at conference. 


Important FAQ's:

Recommended artwork size (not required): 6 inches by 10 inches (6"x10") or 12 inches by 20 inches (12"x20"). If you have art with different dimensions that fits the theme please feel free to submit it, however it may be resized or cropped. 

  • If you cannot attend the CAEA Fall Conference, you may send your student work with someone with ALL correct labeling and paperwork:

* Any student work that is not correctly labeled will not be hung or judged.

* Artwork dropped off for the YAM show at the Fall Conference will be taken home by the teacher, you may send someone to retrieve the work or request that it be mailed to you at your cost, at the time of registration.

* Please understand: Copies of artwork for the YAM Capitol Show and for the NAEA Convention will be high quality reproductions. The decision to show copied work comes from the experience of managing unclaimed pieces. It is HIGHLY INCONVENIENT to manage and store unclaimed artwork.

* We are happy to work with you! Exercise good will towards those who take the time to plan and execute this show, as they also have their own programs to manage.
