MISSION:  Connect Colorado’s high school art students with Colorado’s college and university art programs on a personal level as they prepare for career paths in creative industries.

***Registration funds are disbursed to cover event expenses, facility and materials fees,  student scholarships, and teacher professional development opportunities.***

Connect with future students!

The breakout format is organized in two blocks; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Students choose one school for the morning block, and one school for the afternoon block. Colleges present recruitment material and a hands on artmaking workshop in each block.

NAHS Art Leadership Day Schedule:

Registration/Breakfast: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: College Open Tables

BLOCK 1 – Students Choose a College Artmaking Workshop, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Artist Keynote: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Lunch Provided: 11:30 AM -12:15 PM:  College Open Tables 

BLOCK 2 - Students Choose a College Artmaking Workshop, 12:15 PM – 1:45 PM                                                                                                

Wrap-Up and Thank You: 1:45 PM – 2:00 PM        


Block Topics:

1. Presentations about Building Portfolios and Works for Application Process

            Share important information about what your university looks for in the preparation of an art portfolio.

2. College Presentations and Q&A

            Share important information about your school, admissions requirements, application process, specific art department programs and information, and what makes student life unique at your school.

3.  Workshop

Teach hands-on workshops in a particular chosen media. Hands on art making time can be used for further Q & A and to individually connect with students.

Open Information Tables

            Information tables should be set up for the day. Students will have time to visit tables in the morning before the sessions, and during the lunch hour. Tables should provide students any information and people you feel necessary for student education and recruitment.
