  Workshop Description:
  Discover the dynamic world of classroom safe forms of printmaking in this engaging four-hour workshop! We'll explore two unique and accessible techniques: collagraphy and screen printing. First, you'll learn how to create a collagraph plate by building up layers of textured materials like yarn and cardboard to produce a print with rich tones and patterns. Then, we'll dive into the bold world of screen printing, where you'll create your own stencils and learn how to transfer graphic designs onto paper or fabric. No prior experience is needed—just bring your creativity and get ready to make your mark! You'll leave the workshop with a set of one-of-a-kind prints and the skills to continue your printmaking journey in a classroom setting.

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  If you have always wanted to learn about the magic of metal clay this is your opportunity. Pure silver powder, organic binder and water are the only ingredients in this revolutionary new way of working with precious metals. Ironically, there's no clay in metal clay. However, it is manipulated like clay and uses clay tools and techniques. The alchemy happens with a torch or in a kiln during the short firing process when the silver particles sinter at 1450 degrees. The result is a piece of .999% pure silver or fine silver. Pure gold leaf can be applied to this pure silver in a Korean metalsmithing technique known as Keum Boo.
  The instructor will provide a tool kit to borrow, and everything needed to make a beautiful piece of silver and gold wearable art. Participants may bring their own rubber stamps, coins from far away countries, or accent beads for embellishment. It is recommended that the student bring a pair of leather work gloves that fit well.

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  Transformation. Combining high art and low art in one piece. Juxtaposing fine art with street art, literally. In this workshop you will uncover how cultures other than your own place value on their art and artists. You will also refine your personal definition of ‘What is Art?’, all while transforming a discarded item; giving value to something of no value; a hubcap from the side of some road somewhere… Get ready to document before and after pics and watch the act of creating taking place before you. If you are an educator looking to expand your curriculum, this workshop meets a minimum of three CO 2022 High School Art standards. If you are not interested is using the provided hubcaps, bring in any item which has been discarded and/or has no value. The item should be slightly larger than 1’ x 1’ and needs to be able to accept primer and acrylic paint. Also bring any preferred acrylic brushes you may wish to use instead of the ones provided.

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  Curious about the art of stained glass? In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll explore the full process of creating stained glass from start to finish. We’ll cover the essential skills (cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering) along with tips on tools, materials, and where to find them. Patterns will be provided to guide your first project, but you’ll also learn how to design your own and pick up practical tips for creating successful patterns. Each participant will complete a small 8-10 piece stained glass project during the session, practicing every step while leaving with both a finished work of art and the confidence to continue creating—or even teaching—stained glass.

  This Class will be showcasing a popular Terra Sig additive to create a different look in
  conjunction to Horse Hair Raku. This will be a hands-on class. Students will be provided a piece

  other low firing methods. This will be a hands-on class. Students will be provided a piece of

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  Come learn how to make a three-dimensional sculptures out of thread. Yup! Just thread! During the class you will learn the technique of using free-motion sewing onto water soluble fabric to create lace like drawings which are then used to build a sculpture. You do not have to be an expert at using a sewing machine to make this process work for you. So come with some experience or zero experience and walk away with an amazing object that will make people ask: How did you do that?
  
  Some sewing machines will be provided. If you have a sewing machine and can bring it, that would be a tremendous help for the success of the workshop. More sewing machines will mean fewer people sharing machines.

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  Discover the art of leather-craft in this hands-on workshop where you’ll design and create your own tooled leather pencil pouch. Participants will learn the fundamentals of leather tooling, practice decorative techniques, and gain step-by-step instruction in sewing a zipper and assembling a pouch. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind, handmade pencil pouch that’s both beautiful and functional. No prior experience needed; all materials provided.
  Bring a sketchbook and pencil, or plan ahead and create a design for a 3" x 4" tooled patch (in the interest of time and learning new techniques, avoid small, intricate detail!)

  Step into Bosch’s surreal Garden of Earthly Delights and reimagine it as wearable art! Join CAEA President Lisa Cross and President-Elect Kim Chlumsky for a whimsical afternoon of hat-making where feathers, fruit, florals, and fantastical creatures come to life on your very own headpiece. Guided by playful prompts and plenty of materials, you’ll design and build a statement hat that’s equal parts creative, bold, and bash-ready. No experience needed—just bring your imagination!
  
  Wear your creation proudly to the Saturday Night Bash and let your masterpiece shine on the dance floor.
  
  Bring your own found objects to add to your hat! It should be lightweight!

  CLASS DESCRIPTION
  In this class we will make ceramic forms which can be stitched together. We will go over how to alter or prepare clay forms so that after they have been fired they can be sewn upon or stitched together. You are welcome to bring 1-2 leatherhard clay forms to practice this on, however there will also be prepared clay forms available for you to use. Participants will each receive a fired pre-pierced form to use so that they have a piece to practice the final stitching components on and a completed piece to take home at the end of the class. We will also talk about several options for incorporating fabric into this process.
